Why was it recalled?
The Revival feline milk replacer recall followed third-party test results that suggested a nutrient deficiency in one lot. Revival's own testing across multiple lots, reviewed by an independent animal nutritionist on August 12, 2026, confirmed low potassium, copper, folic acid, choline and/or vitamin B6 caused by inconsistencies at a contracted manufacturer. Revival has ended that relationship.

What Revival is recalling
On August 26, 2026, Revival Animal Health of Orange City, Iowa announced the Revival feline milk replacer recall: Breeder's Edge Foster Care and Shelter's Choice feline milk replacers with low levels of potassium, copper, folic acid, choline and/or pyridoxine (vitamin B6). The products were sold nationwide online and in retail pet stores in resealable stand-up bags of several sizes and in 12 oz jars.
Why these nutrients matter for kittens
Neonatal kittens depend entirely on milk replacer for every nutrient, their organs are immature and they grow fast. Deficiencies that would be mild in an adult cat can be fatal or cause permanent damage in a kitten within days to weeks. Low copper, potassium, vitamin B6, folic acid and choline together carry risks of anemia, neurological problems, liver failure, kidney damage, skeletal disease and heart compromise.
No illnesses had been confirmed at the time of the announcement, but Revival said it was investigating nine complaints of possible gastrointestinal and bone development problems.
How Revival found the problem
Third-party test results suggested a nutrient deficiency in one lot of feline milk replacer. Revival then ran its own confirmatory tests on multiple lots. An independent animal nutritionist reviewed those results on August 12, 2026, and the company decided on a voluntary recall, blaming manufacturing inconsistencies at a contracted manufacturer. Revival has discontinued its relationship with that manufacturer. The recall was made with the knowledge of the FDA.

Revival warns that in kittens these deficiencies can cause anemia, neurological dysfunction, liver failure, kidney damage, skeletal disease and cardiac compromise, and that signs can appear within days to a few weeks.
