Why was it recalled?
The Revival Animal Health recall announcement was issued after an internal investigation determined that select lots of canine milk replacer contained variable Vitamin D levels. Dogs ingesting elevated levels of Vitamin D may experience vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. At very high levels, Vitamin D toxicity can lead to serious health issues including renal dysfunction.
The issue behind the Revival Animal Health recall was identified through an investigation into Vitamin D consistency across production lots. As a precaution, the affected products were voluntarily recalled. The Revival Animal Health recall was announced through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), with two complaints of rickets reported to date.
