Salmonella can pose serious health risks to both pets consuming the product and humans handling the contaminated dog food.
Signs of salmonella infection in humans include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. In more severe cases, it can lead to arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms.
Dogs infected with salmonella may exhibit lethargy, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Other dogs may only show decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Contact your veterinarian if your pet has consumed this product and is showing any of the symptoms mentioned above.
Research by Petful reveals ongoing customer concerns regarding this product. Recent customer reviews on the Tractor Supply website have mentioned issues with mold found in the dog food.
One pet parent, 2 months ago, reported that the food “gave all 8 of my dogs bloody and black stool, and caused bloody vomiting.” Another customer mentioned a few months ago, “I have 3 dogs, and this tore their stomachs up.”
