Woody's Company Overview

Woody’s Pet Food Deli presents itself as an initiative aimed at informing pet owners about proper pet nutrition, asserting the fundamental importance of feeding pets real food for optimal and preventative health care. The store is named after Woody, a German shepherd mix, adopted from St. Francis of Assisi Animal Rescue of Forest Lake, MN, who, along with another adopted dog named Fred, reportedly had significant health improvements after being switched to a whole foods diet.

The company suggests that the transition to a diet of whole foods resulted in noticeable health benefits for both Woody and Fred. Woody's Pet Food Deli attributes the disappearance of various health issues the dogs faced, such as weight problems, heart murmurs, and arthritis, to this dietary change, although they acknowledge that some conditions, like chronic ear infections, remained a challenge.

Woody’s Pet Food Deli advocates for feeding carnivorous pets a diet consisting of real meat rather than processed, carbohydrate-heavy pet food, claiming that modern pets are often overfed yet lack proper nutrition. This, they suggest, leads to a range of health problems caused by dietary imbalances and chronic inflammation.

The company positions itself against most commercial pet foods, which they describe as being composed of isolated nutrients, fillers, preservatives, and artificial flavorings, lacking what they refer to as "Life Energy." They propose that a pet's physiology is more attuned to meat-based whole foods rather than the highly processed, carbohydrate-rich pet foods commonly available, claiming that whole foods support digestive balance and overall health in ways that processed pet foods do not.
