Steve's Real Food Recall: Go Raw Expands Thiamine Recall to Freeze-Dried Chicken Recipe Lot C26022

Why was it recalled?
The Steve's Real Food recall expansion covers one lot that may contain low levels of thiamine (vitamin B1). Thiamine deficiency can cause appetite loss, vomiting and, if it continues, neurological signs such as a downward-bent neck, wobbly walking and seizures. Cats are more susceptible than dogs. Go Raw says the lot is no longer in distribution and calls the recall precautionary.

Still recalled from February: Quest Cat Food Chicken Recipe Freeze-Dried Nuggets 10 oz (Lot C25288) and Chicken Recipe Frozen Diet 2 lb (Lots MCD25350 and MCC25321).
What Go Raw is recalling
On June 8, 2026, Go Raw LLC of Cottonwood Heights, Utah announced the Steve's Real Food recall expansion: one additional lot of Freeze-Dried Chicken Recipe, sold for both cats and dogs, may contain low levels of thiamine (vitamin B1). It extends the recall the company first issued on February 17, 2026 for three lots of Quest Cat Food Chicken Recipe.
The company says it traced the lot through distributors and retailers and confirmed it is no longer in distribution channels, and that the expansion was issued out of an abundance of caution. All current Steve's Real Food products are made with an updated vitamin premix.
Why thiamine matters
Thiamine is an essential vitamin for carbohydrate metabolism and nerve function in cats and dogs. Cats need more of it and have less ability to compensate when intake falls short. Early signs of deficiency include decreased appetite, vomiting, excessive salivation, weight loss or poor growth. As it progresses, animals can develop a neck bent toward the floor, mental dullness, vision changes, wobbly walking, circling, falling and seizures. Untreated, advanced deficiency can be fatal; caught early, most animals recover with supplementation.
The February Quest recall, still in effect
The three Quest Cat Food lots from the February 2026 Go Raw recall remain recalled and are listed in the table below alongside the new Steve's Real Food lot. On March 13, 2026, FDA issued its own advisory after agency testing found extremely low or no thiamine in eight Quest lots; FDA recommended the firm recall all eight, and Go Raw recalled only three.
Two errors in the company's product tables
The June announcement lists the new lot's UPC as 6-91730-16402-7 in its product table, but a later paragraph gives 6-91730-18103-1, which is the UPC of the 10 oz Quest nuggets. The same June table lists the earlier Quest lot MCC25321 as a 12 lb bag; the February notice and FDA's March advisory both describe it as a 2 lb bag, which is what our table shows. Go by the lot code and best-by date printed on the front of the bag.

Watch cats and dogs for decreased appetite, vomiting, drooling, weight loss, a head bent toward the floor, dullness, wobbly walking, circling, falling or seizures, and see your veterinarian promptly if any appear. Treated early, thiamine deficiency is usually reversible.
