Why was it recalled?
The Raaw Energy Dog Food Alert was issued after the Connecticut Department of Agriculture received a consumer complaint about a dog illness, which prompted testing by both Connecticut and New Jersey state authorities. A total of eight unopened product samples were collected and all tested positive for one or more harmful bacteria, specifically Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella, and Campylobacter jejuni. Since the original advisory in January 2026, the FDA has received additional consumer complaints of illness in animals that consumed the recalled product.
Pets ingesting contaminated products may experience vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), fever, loss of appetite, and decreased activity level, though some pets may show no symptoms. Asymptomatic pets can still shed these bacteria in their feces and saliva, spreading it to people and other animals.
The Raaw Energy Dog Food Alert was announced through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and has since expanded to cover more than 180 lots across dozens of flavors. Raaw Energy has recalled all products manufactured between July 17, 2025 and December 23, 2025, plus one lot from March 31, 2026. Consumers with affected products are urged to stop feeding them to their pets immediately and dispose of them in a secure container.
