The Oma's Pride recall began after FDA received a consumer complaint, collected a sample of Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe and found Salmonella. Three illnesses in dogs have been reported in connection with the complaint. On August 17 the company updated its notice to clarify that no human illnesses have been reported.

What Oma's Pride is recalling

Oma's Pride of Avon, Connecticut, a brand of Miller Foods, announced the Oma's Pride recall of one lot of Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe, a frozen raw dog food sold in a 6 lb stand-up pouch holding twelve 8 oz vacuum-sealed portions. The lot covers 639 bags manufactured on January 27, 2026 and shipped between February 12 and May 15, 2026.

The company first announced the recall in mid-August and updated the notice on August 17, 2026 to clarify that the reported illnesses were in dogs only, with no human illnesses reported.

How the Salmonella was found

FDA received a consumer complaint, collected a sample of the product and found it positive for Salmonella. Three dogs have fallen ill in connection with the complaint. Oma's Pride says it is investigating the source and root cause of the contamination.

Risk to dogs and people

Dogs with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some show only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected dogs that appear healthy can still spread the bacteria to other animals and to people.

People can be infected by handling contaminated pet food, especially without thorough hand washing. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever, and Salmonella can lead to more serious infections in some cases.

How to identify the recalled bag

Look for the lot number BB012729 and the best-by date 1/27/2029 on the pouch. The front label is pictured above and below.
