Recalled: Natural Life Chicken Meal & Potato Formula Dry Dog Food (EXPANDED)

Consumers who have bought this dog food should dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Maker: Natural Life Pet Products
Cause: Elevated levels of Vitamin D
Announcement: FDA report dated Nov. 2, 2018 and updated on Nov. 9, 2018 (archived here)
What was recalled: The following dry dog foods with “best by” dates of Dec. 4, 2019 – Aug. 10, 2020 only:

  • Natural Life Chicken Meal & Potato Formula Dry Dog Food, 17.5 lb. bags, UPC #0-12344-08175-1

According to the FDA reports, “Natural Life Pet Products became aware of the elevated levels of Vitamin D after receiving complaints from 3 pet owners of Vitamin D toxicity after consuming the product. An investigation revealed a formulation error led to the elevated Vitamin D in the product.”

The products were distributed to retail stores in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and California.

The original FDA report mentioned “best by” dates only in 2020, but the recall was apparently expanded to include additional “best by” dates, which now range from Dec. 4, 2019 to Aug. 10, 2020.
