Why was it recalled?
The Fromm recall was initiated after the company received consumer complaints of metal contamination in two pâté wet dog food products. Fromm says it identified the error and added corrective actions. Sharp metal pieces can cut the mouth or gut and cause blockages.
- Recalled: Fromm Turkey Pâté (12.2 oz, UPC 072705118700, lot EP2A3306 551006) and Fromm Diner Classics Milo's Meatloaf Pâté (12.5 oz, UPC 072705132324, lot EP2A3306 551029). Both carry Best By 032029. No other Fromm products are affected.
What Fromm is recalling
On August 21, 2026, Fromm Family Foods of Mequon, Wisconsin announced the Fromm recall of 3,852 cases of Turkey Pâté wet dog food and 1,973 cases of Diner Classics Milo's Meatloaf Pâté wet dog food. The cans were sold at neighborhood pet stores and online outlets in the United States and Canada.
The company says the recall covers only the two products and lot codes in the table below. Every other Fromm dog and cat product is unaffected.
Why the cans were pulled
Fromm initiated the recall after receiving complaints of metal contamination. In its FDA-posted announcement the company says it identified the error and has put corrective actions in place on top of its existing safety processes. As of the announcement, no illnesses or injuries had been reported.
What metal in dog food can do
Dogs that swallow metal may choke, vomit, refuse food, act lethargic or show stomach discomfort. Sharp pieces can lacerate the mouth and digestive tract, and larger amounts can cause partial or complete intestinal blockage. If your dog ate from one of the recalled cans and shows any of these signs, contact your veterinarian.
How to identify the recalled cans
Match the product name and UPC on the label, then look for the lot code and the Best By 032029 stamp on the can. The Turkey Pâté can is pictured above; the Milo's Meatloaf can is below.
Returns and contact
