Snausages Company Overview
Snausages brand dog treats originally were part of Del Monte and later were produced under Big Heart Pet Brands. The J.M. Smucker Company acquired Big Heart Pet Foods in 2015. The name "Snausages" appears to be a mashup of the words "snack" and "sausages."
However, these treats, like similar pet treats, have been criticized by some veterinary professionals for being loaded with sugar. “When you have popular treats such as Snausages SnawSomes that list sugars as 3 of the first 4 ingredients, you know there’s a problem,” writes veterinarian Dr. Ernie Ward, founder of the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, in a 2010 article titled "Kibble Crack." Dr. Ward continued: “I think if more pet owners were aware of this, they may choose their treats more carefully.”
