Has There Ever Been a California Natural Recall?
Yes, there have been instances of California Natural Recall. In 2013, the brand faced multiple California Natural Recall events due to potential salmonella risks. The first California Natural Recall was initiated in March, targeting several product lines. This action was followed by an expanded California Natural Recall in April. The recall efforts peaked in June 2013 with a comprehensive California Natural Recall covering all products under the brand.
Additionally, in late June 2019, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) highlighted California Natural in a list of 16 pet food brands possibly connected to heart disease in dogs and cats. Despite this concern, a specific California Natural Recall was not issued as part of the FDA's broader investigation. The FDA's review, which includes mostly grain-free and dry kibble dog foods, suggests that the heart disease issue might be multifaceted, without a clear dietary cause identified at this point.
