My last dog - Bully(pit bull) had problems with aggression, Peter helped us, but I want to cope myself in the case of a similar situation. Can you share your methods?

My situation is a little different - I am a pet sitter, so when I encounter a dog that is a little behaviorally challenged, I am limited in what I can do. Some are jumpers, some are biters, some are wanderers.

The trick for me is to find out what motivates them. For one, it's tennis balls. I swear, this dog would do anything to catch one! I can call him back easily when he takes off just by holding one up like the One Ring and calling his name.

Others are food motivated. So I use treats and food to work on a bit of training when I am there.

Much like the previous comment, I just use my dog's fav toy (which is my frisbee) to grab his attention.

Food works sometimes, but I don't wanna over-feed him, so I only use it occasionally.

Using something that motivates them is good and all but going further than that would be better like using those things to train him and eventually lessen their aggression.

Consulting a certified dog trainer is always a good start. They can show you how to handle difficult situations and teach you how to work with your dog. Knowledge is power, especially when dealing with an aggressive dog.

Gives something that motivates her and do feel free to play tug games, but don’t use an easily eviscerated toy. Rather, use a tug rope.
