Why won't my Kitten come out of the Bathroom? (5 replies)
About a week and a half ago i rescued a kitten (about 8-9 weeks old) from near where i work. Took him to the vet and all that to make sure he was healthy. When i got him home he was dealing with the fallout of de-worming so he stayed in my bathroom (ease of cleanup, ease of keeping an eye on him etc.) Now he is doing good but seems to not be willing to come out of the bathroom. He will come out briefly but always retreats back through the door even when i leave the door open so he can gradually explore at his leisure.
Is this just a safety and security thing that will take time and, I am overreacting here?
I think your kitten feels safe and secure as this was his first "home" at your house. I've fostered many kittens and cats and we also have cats, so my first thought is to just give him some time. Leaving the door open is a good idea as it lets him have some control and he can come to you when he's ready. I'm sure that given enough time, he'll be racing all over your house, getting into anything and everything and you may wish for these quieter days...Ha Ha !!! Hoping he's cuddling in your lap soon!!!
Hey Ghebelmd! I'm curious - how's it going? Did he start to venture out?
