What is your Dream Pet? (6 replies)
If your Fear, Finances, Time, and Space inside or outside your home were not an issue.....What type of Exotic Pet would you reakky want to own and take care of? Not wild Animals like Giraffes or Elephants etc. But domesticated, exotic pets.....would if be a type of Snake? SugarGlider? Tegu? Bearded Dragon, Exotic Bird? Horses?.... One, Two, Three...Share! Xo
I really like the idea of a sugar glider. They are ridiculously cute and seem personable. Here's an article about caring for them. Right now, though, I'm pretty content being a one-cat kinda family. But at least my wife (probably) wouldn't be allergic to a sugar glider.
I would love to be able to rescue horses as well as dogs. It would be my dream to have a lot of both, and to be able to provide them with a life that made them happy. I never outgrew the "I want a pony!" stage. 🙂 If I had a safe environment, I'd also love to have ducks. I think ducks are probably the cutest animals out there. Sadly, where I live there are too many natural predators for the ducks to be completely safe outside.
Cats. Perfectly happy with cats. What's to improve upon perfection.
OK, maybe a tiger. I'm quite partial to tigers, but hubs says the house isn't big enough. Sigh.
And I would like lots and lots of bearded dragons.
So cats, a tiger, and lots of bearded dragons, oh and a dog or three.
And actually, guinea pigs. They are such characters.
Cats, a tiger, bearded dragons, dogs, and guinea pigs.
Yep, that ought to do it...for now.
All Fabulous answers. I actually have to think about how I would answer my own question now! And Dave, if you and your wife ever decide to get SugarGliders I would be happy to help in that regard. I've raised, rescued and bred them for over ten years now and if you get some great joeys that have been handled from birth, they make wonderful companions! :o) Kirsti
Hey Kristine, Hedgehogs can be great pets if you get one young enough and have the time to handle them frequently so they get used to human interaction. They can all have such different personalities. I have seen some that can be very nippy and aggresive if they have been ignored or mistreated by a previous owner. They eat vegetation as well as mealworms and other insects so its good to ensure you have a pet supplier close by that sells insects or you can have your own supply of mealworms at home to breed as they are very easy to raise. Anyways, I'd you ever decide to get one in the future to add to your beautiful family, let me know and I would love to help get you set up! Xo Kirsti and the Zoo
