Are there Exotic Pets that Frighten You? And Why? (3 replies)
Hi there! My name is Kirsti Stephenson, and I am a proud Petful Member and Contributer. If we have not met yet, please feel free to go to my Profile Page and check out some of my Exotic Family Photo Albums, Ask Me a Question, or make friend request. You will see I have a deep passion and Love for various different exotic Pets! Many of which alot of people are afraid of, even if they have never come into contact with them like Snakes for example! I hear so much misinformation and fear out there regarding captive bred, domesticated Snake species that just are NOT true, and it makes me very sad and compels me to share my Pets with as many people as possible, especially children so they do not grow up fearing the unknown. As well as helping Adults overcome any phobias and debunking myths about a variety of Animals that in actuality are very Loving, Intelligent and Fascinating Pet companions that can greatly enrich your Life. I find that most of these fears come from negative portrayals of these stunning Creatures in the media, movies like Anaconda etc. That suggest that Snakes and other Exotic Species are slimy, agressive, vicious animals that want to bite or eat humans! Now of course there are all types of poisionous or dangerous wild animals in the World that should not be kept as Pets like Tigers, but I am referring to docile, domesticated Exotic Pets. Snakes may not be your cup of Tea, but that does not mean you should be afraid of them or hate them. So! Tell us if there are any Pets out there that do scare or intimidate you and Why? Looking forward to your feedback and comments! Kirsti and The ZOO
I have to admit -- spiders and snakes creep me out, Lol. I like to say if it has no legs or a lot of legs, I'll probably be screaming! I'm not sure why, actually. It's an interesting question, Kirsti. I think a lot of people react that way -- I almost wonder if it's some instinctual thing. Either that, or I am just a coward!
I know spiders perform such a useful purpose in the grand scheme of things. I don't know what it is about them exactly that gives me the heebie-jeebies. Maybe it's all those eyes just staring at me... D:
